About Us
In 1887 the Ladies Benevolent Society, composed of nine ladies and five gentlemen of the town , voted to use the funds of the Society to build a church in East Raymond. The building, a mix of Gothic Revival and Queen Anne styles popular at the time, was completed in 1890 and has remained largely unchanged. The congregation, though, has gone through several cycles of growth and contraction over the years. Since 2002 The East Raymond Chapel has enjoyed a close relationship with the larger, year-round Casco Village Church, UCC, which provides pastoral care and assists in oversight of the chapel's affairs.
In 2004 the East Raymond Chapel was added to the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service.
The intent and purpose of this church shall be to worship God; to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ; to celebrate the sacraments; to realize the Christian fellowship and Unity within this church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward all of God's Creation; and to strive for righteousness, justice, and peace.
